Lost! (and found)

So the Saints won the Superbowl, but we didn't get to watch it with Ellen. I'd like to say she was just too busy, but the truth is, we misplaced her for a little bit (shh, don't tell Megan). But she's back now, safe and sound, getting cozy in the living room. Now just imagine her with some chips and salsa, and bam, we're right back to Superbowl Sunday. What does this have to do with getting Megan to the Ellen show? I told you, we found Ellen! Now Megan can get back to hanging out with her in Eugene to pass the time while waiting to watch the Ellen show live.

American Idle

So it was a slow January. But doesn't the world, or at least the country, always stop when American Idol starts a new season? Our weekly schedules are now comfortably adjusted to accommodate the extra hours every week that we're planning to waste watching Idol, and we're back to the mission.

Sunday was a rare sunny winter day in Eugene so we went for a walk by the river. Lots of people were out enjoying the weather. Ellen would have loved it. We tried to get her to join us, but it seems she had other plans. Maybe it was someone's birthday? Ellen had a birthday too, not that long ago. We didn't celebrate it, but hello, we were busy rearranging our lives to fit Idol in. We are definitely planning to celebrate one big birthday this year. Yeah, you guessed it, Megan's 50th. And she's going to Hollywood! Or she's hoping to go to Burbank anyway to see Ellen's show live.

Ticket Status Update #2

Just looked at the website, and there are now no tickets available in February. No other months are up though. I guess we have to keep looking.

Houston?

Toni went all the way to Houston to personally tell her family and friends there how much Megan wants to watch the Ellen Show live. She took Ellen along for company.Megan does have a connection to Houston, having danced for the Houston Ballet. Not surprisingly, Megan is really looking forward to dancing as part of Ellen's audience.

Toni and Ellen spent some time hanging out with Toni's grandmother. Then they tried to go out for a night on the town, but it was too cold. In Houston? Believe it, baby. To cheer Ellen up, Toni's uncle brought over a little stray dog that found its way into his home a couple of days earlier. All in all, a good trip. Too bad Megan wasn't there. But Megan does hope to take a trip soon -- to LA to watch the Ellen show live.

Coffee with Ellen

Megan was out of town for a week's vacation, so when she got back we went out for coffee to catch up and exchange New Year's Eve stories. As usual, Megan brought along some work. Ellen decided to come, too. And it wasn't even because we offered to pay! We went to Metropol, a nice little bakery with just enough room to relax.

The four of us split a couple of chocolate croissants. Ellen took all the napkins so we had to go back for more. Since we asked for a quite a few to begin with, it was kind of embarrassing.

Speaking of embarrassing, we knew it was time to leave when Ellen jumped over the counter and started trying to serve the other customers. No more coffee and sugar for you, Ellen. Fortunately, "Lane" was a good sport and didn't seem to mind too much.

We poured a little coffee on the ground for the homies and headed out. We had a good time. Hopefully we can hang out with Ellen again soon. As much fun as it is going out for coffee in Eugene, it will be a lot more fun to go out for a little coffee before watching the Ellen Show in LA.

Christmas Eve

Of course Ellen was invited over for our little Christmas eve celebration at Megan's house. First, we had to get the presents together at our house. Ellen tried to take credit for Toni's wrapping job, then the two of them embarked on a heated discussion about whether having a plastic Christmas tree is considered "green" in the state of Oregon. We weren't really able to reach a consensus, but we have a lot to think about for next year.

When we were finally ready to head to Megan's we took my car. Ellen insisted on driving. It was a pretty foggy night but Megan's house is only about a mile from here and we drove slowly. It would have been nice to have Rudolph's help, but even though Ellen tried to call in a few favors, it turned out he was busy that night.

Everyone loved Ellen's energy, and we all had a good time eating clam chowder and exchanging gifts. Hanging out with Ellen was fun, but it will be more fun in LA watching her show live.
